Postage Stamp Design
This project involved the task of designing for the small scale of postage stamps. We were tasked with designing a stamp based on an event or tradition of a different country or culture. I chose to represent the Highland Games of Scotland.
The overall design uses pieces of the Highland Games to be representative of the Scottish flag. The shape of the design is the cross of the flag and it is made of rope and hands, representing the popular tug of war game that is a large part of the Highland Games. I also created a plaid pattern for the background, as each competitor in the games wears the tartan pattern of their clan. This design is simple enough for a stamp, but is able to get the idea of Scotland and the Highland Games across.
